A00033 - Hidden Figures of Islam

Good Morning,

My name is Everett Jenkins, and I will be speaking this morning on the topic of "Hidden Figures of Islam".  I have been assigned this task not because I am a Muslim but because, over the past thirty years, I have gathered a rather extensive knowledge of Islamic historical figures.

I shall take a moment to explain how I find myself in this position today.  In 1994, I was immersed in my legal career at the City of Richmond, California.  Working for the City of Richmond in the turbulent and violent 1990s was a very stressful job. For a time, Richmond was the murder capital of the country, and the poverty and crime were very difficult problems.

In February of 1994, I lost consciousness in my bathroom.  After a few moments, I regain consciousness and told my wife what had happened. My wife then drove me to the local hospital.  Once there, I lost consciousness again.

When I awoke, I was informed that I had lost consciousness due to a loss of blood. a loss attributable to a intestinal ulcer. I did not know if the ulcer was related to my job, but it did not matter.  In the hospital, I had a spiritual awakening.  It dawned on me that I was not doing what God wanted me to do.

and because that knowledge seems to still be a rather rare quality for this nation in general today and for Renaissance Weekends in particular.
